Overview

To demonstrate McDonald's sanitization process, Moffat's H8T-FS-UC8 hot holding cabinet required an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide. In this project, I led the design and Kitchen Brains' Lead Engineer assisted with communication.

Solutions/Goals

The overall goal was to provide clear instructions for team members, this would be achieved by:

  • Displaying an isometric 3D model of the holding cabinet
  • Using visuals the team member could directly accociate with, example: gloves, cleaners, sinks, etc.

Design Process

After watching YouTube tutorials and reviewing specs to help us better understand the screen and it’s capabilities, we contacted Moffat for isometric photos of the holding cabinet.

As soon as we had gathered all the necessary images and details, I started modeling the cabinet in Adobe Illustrator. The images were then imported into Photoshop and exported as bitmap files.

An example of sequence screens paired with an Arial Bold font.

After submitting designs to Moffat and McDonald's then receiving feedback, we refined them to improve operational clarity. Both teams were provided with a user flow sequence, leading to the successful completion of the three-month project.

Outcome

Having the opportunity to work directly with the design teams and engineers of two top companies was truly remarkable.

McDonald's/Moffat has used my UX Illustrations in a select number of restaurants across the country.
